Surrogate Decision Making and Office of Public Guardian

Participants will learn about supported decision making and how to best support individuals with intellectual and/ or developmental disabilities. Participants will learn about alternatives to guardianship and other less restrictive forms of assistance including advanced directives, representative and protective payees, veterans administration fiduciaries, powers of attorney, and conservatorship. Participants will also learn about the types of full guardianship, guardian powers and expectations, application and reporting processes, and the role of the Office of Public Guardian.
